To qualify, camp at least 8 times a year with 51% of your fellow scouts in attendance.

Your unit can receive a $200 gift card (to Cabela’s or Scheel’s) and each participating youth and adult that camps 8 times a year in 8 separate months, can receive a special patch. If you are the top camping unit in the Council your unit will receive a $400 gift card to Cabela’s or Scheel’s. (to be determined). Adults can earn the patches also just for getting out with your unit.

There are incentives for those that attend additional council camps. See the following rules for eligibility.

1. All campouts must be with your Scouting unit.
2. All campouts must be at least overnight; longer campouts still count as one outing.
3. Campouts must be at least 24 hours in duration (this does NOT include driving time).
4. 51% of registered youth must be in attendance throughout the campout.
5. Adults must be registered with current SYT but do not count towards the 51% totals.
6. Campouts are defined as tent camping, cowboy camping, or other Scout-made (wilderness survival) shelters. Cabin camping, lock ins, and RV camping do not qualify.
7. Campouts that fall on the 30th-1st of the month can be used in either, but not both months.
8. Units can camp more often than once a month but must have at least 8 separate campouts over 8 separate months of outings.
9. Summer camps or long-term high adventure camps count as one campout only.
10. OA events can be used but the 51% ratio for the entire unit (not just OA) is used for calculations
11. Events that are more than two days or are simultaneous with another event, still only count as one campout.
12. Units must file reports within 15 days of the campout to be registered for that outing.

All units are encouraged to register all of their outings, because even if you don’t have the 51% attendance your unit may still be recognized for its accomplishments. All attendees can still be eligible for the special patch if they qualify for the 8 campouts in 8 separate months even if their unit does not qualify for the gift card.
